Fact:
The Bangladesh National Women Lawyers Association (BNWLA) filed a writ petition
before the Supreme Court on sexual harassment. They point out that in
Bangladesh, there were no specific legislative provisions for addressing sexual harassment
of women and girl children.
Judgment: The fundamental rights guaranteed in Chapter III of the Constitution are sufficient to embrace all elements of gender equality, including preventing sexual harassment or abuse of women in educational institutions and workplaces and giving directives in the form of guidelines to all employers and persons.
